Bethany for Children & Families invites you to travel back in time and listen to the vintage sounds of the 1950s and 1960s when they roll into the Adler Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 25.

This fundraiser benefits the programs of Bethany for Children & Families and helps Bethany continue its mission to keep children safe, strengthen families, and build healthy communities. Show your support, reminisce about the good times, and flashback to the doo-wop era of root beer floats, convertibles, vinyl records, drive-ins, and diners.

The Be-Bop Before the Doo-Wop ‘n Rock VIP Pre-Party will be 5-7 p.m. at the River Center. A $67 ticket includes VIP seating and a VIP pre-show party with a meet-and-greet with the artists. Get your picture taken with the stars! Also enjoy 1950s and 1960s food and beverages.

Sexuality Education at Home: A Workshop for Parents
This highly interactive workshop will review the normal sexual development of children and provide tips for how to take advantage of “teachable moments.” Parents will practice answering questions children might ask about sexuality and have an opportunity to clarify their values about issues related to sexuality and their children. Resources such as booklists, Web sites and hotlines will be distributed.
Who should attend: This presentation is for parents and other interested community members.
Cost: FREE - Registration not required.

SESSION II  8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Sexuality Education Basics: Strategies for Teaching Sexuality to high school and middle school students.
The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with opportunities to learn about and practice basic teaching methodologies and techniques that work well for conducting sexuality education programs with young people.
What about the Boys?: Teaching sexuality accurately and effectively with boys.
The vast majority of sexuality education curricula and programs are created with the needs of girls in mind. This training will provide the most up-to-date information available about how boys learn, how co-ed sexuality education programming has failed boys and what educators can do to be sure to reach all students and workshop participants.
Who should attend? This presentation is for social service professionals, educators, nurses, school counselors, parents, and other professionals who work with youth.
Cost: $40 per person, includes continental breakfast and lunch.

Bethany for Children & Families invites you to nominate a family or company for a “Family of the Year Award.” Winners will receive their honors at the Family Awards Dinner on November 4, 2010. Categories include: Adoptive Family of the Year, Foster Family of the Year, Advocate of the Year, Corporate Family-Friendly Business of the Year, Leadership Family of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year.   Click here for a nomination form.  Forms must be submitted no later than September 24, 2010.
