What do you do at Bethany?

Bethany for Children & Families is a voluntary, not-for-profit agency that has provided services to children and families in western Illinois and eastern Iowa since 1899. Bethany is a licensed child welfare agency for the State of Illinois and a licensed child-placing agency for the State of Iowa. The organization consists of a professional team of social workers, licensed counselors, case managers, and educators who work to implement the agency's mission to keep children safe, strengthen families, and build healthy communities.

Do you distribute Goodwill vouchers?

Yes. The agency partners with Goodwill of the Heartland and distributes Goodwill vouchers on Friday afternoons from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM at the Moline office and on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM at the Davenport office. Please be prepared to present photo identification and current proof of address, such as a recent cell phone bill, utility bill, or lease or rental agreement. Vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Two vouchers are available per household per month. You must be present to obtain a voucher.

Does Bethany provide housing?

While Bethany does offer temporary/short-term housing services, the agency is not a shelter and does not provide immediate housing. Please call (309) 797-7700 for more information.

Can Bethany help me pay rent?

Bethany does not have a rent assistance program.

Can Bethany help me obtain furniture?

Bethany works with case managers at over thirty agencies and organizations throughout the Quad Cities to provide furniture to those in need. Individuals or families who are in need of furniture must have their case managers contact Bethany on their behalf. Case managers may call (309) 736-6642 for more information.

Do you accept or distribute in-kind donations?

Bethany accepts in-kind donations and distributes free of charge gently used furniture, beds, dressers, appliances, and other household items. Please call (309) 797-7700 if you would like to donate or if you are in need of an item.

Do you accept donations of used clothing or plush toys?

Bethany does not accept clothing or plush toys.
